I've been learning a lot of eco-friendly tricks lately. I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO TAKE 2 MINUTES OUT OF YOUR DAY AND READ THESE. THE HEALTH OF OUR PLANET MAY DEPEND ON IT! Here are some ideas of how to help our planet:
1.) Did you know that having one houseplant per person in a home will almost completely counterbalance one person's daily household carbon emmissions. So, say two people live in your home; having two houseplants in your home will almost wipe clean your "human thumbprint." (Human thumbprint is the term used for the negative impact humans have on the globe).
2.) Wearing organic cottons and buying clothes from thrift and vintage stores also help the environment.
3.) Recycling is also vitally important. If your area charges for recycling (such as my area), find alluminum can banks that will recycle the cans and give you a monetary bonus of a few cents a can, therefore, another good reason to recycle. Also, finding a business/school that recycles paper is helpful. When you are done with some paper, just run it by their recycling box. Most places will allow you to do this. School campuses are especially accommidating. Make sure you use recyclable papers and materials. Some paper is coated in a vaniere or is not 100% paper product. Make sure when recycling and buying paper that your paper is able to be recycled.
4.) Also, use the internet as much as possible, therefore elliminating a lot of paper-waste. Signing up for paperless billing/notifications/newsletter/etc. really reduces the amount of paper used.
5.) If you don't need to drive somewhere, don't. Walk or ride your bike. Public transportation such as trolly cars, subways, buses, carpooling, etc. is also much better for our environment because of the smaller amount of emmissions. Plus, taking public transportation is better for your wallet. Public transportation generally saves you a lot of money. With gas being over $3 a gallon now, if you pay $3 for a bus ride and go a few miles, you end up saving yourself money over time (which is another incentive to go green).
6.) Don't use cash if at all possible. Cash is a waste of paper. It is non-recyclable and is unnecissary. Using debit/ATM card or other paperless money is better for the environment because the demand on governments' mints are less.
7.) After shopping, recycle paper bags and either reuse or return plastic bags to the store. Most major grocery stores and shops such as Safeway and Walmart offer plastic bag recycling. You bring your bags back to the store after you are finished with them and the store melts them down and creates new bags with them.
8.) Eat organic! The food tastes exactly the same... sometimes even better! Organic foods are becoming more and more accessable and less and less expensive. Organics are now sold by the bucket load in major grocery stores. They now cost a lot less too. You no longer have to do all your shopping at small specialty grocers to get organic. Eating 1 bag of organic food can help save 100's of gallons of chemicals going into our water supply.
9.) No more plastic water bottles!!! Stop buying individual water bottles. Plastic water bottles are the second largest offender in landfills. Buy a reusable plastic waterbottle that you can wash and then use again. If you must have purified water, invest in a water purifier. Doing this will reduce the billions of plastic waterbottles found in landfills.
10.) Don't use paper plates! Yes, they save you the 30 seconds it takes to actually wash a plate, but in the long run, they're more expensive and are overtaking landfills. They are the third largest group found in landfills.
11.) DON'T USE DISPOSABLE DIAPERS! Disosable diapers make up the most bulk in a landfill. This is a world-wide occurance. Some studies say that landfills are 70% full of disposable diapers. They've recently come out with cloth, washable diapers that are almost exactly like disposable. They have velcro now, so you don't have to tie or pin them. Disposable diapers are not biodigradable and are extremely harmful to wildlife.
12.) No styrofoam. Styrofoam never disintigrates. It is pure chemicals that hurt wildlife and takes up landfills.
13.) When you drink from aluminum cans, take the plastic rings that hold the package together and cut the rings apart. Taking 10 seconds to cut the rings into little bits saves aproximately 15 birds/fish per package. Birds and fish get caught in the little plastic holes and are injured and die.
These are all good ideas to help slow the process of global warming and keep us healthier. I recommend you take whatever measures you can to help our planet. Doing a few small things can help a lot.
Dido! I am so psyched for it. I wish I could adequately describe the exact details about my theory. When I describe it verbally, it sounds so much more amazing! You should try to remember it for when the book comes out.

I will remember it, don't you worry! I just don't think she can finish off the series forever with a book the same length as Half Blood Prince. I thought the last one'd have to be longer than the Order Of The Phoenix one for some reason but yeah.
I think the 7th book is supposed to be over 1,000 pages. I dunno, I read the 6th book in 12 hours (I didn't sleep that night). I sat there and cried for like 20 minutes with the whole Dumbledore thing. I'm sad she's ending the series. I think the only way she will successfully accomplish that is if she kills Harry off. She'd be hated everywhere if the series could continue, but she chose not to. That's another part of my theory that Harry will die... and possibly a bunch of the Weasleys.

Yeah. I hated her for killing off Dumbledore. He was like, my favourite character. Him and Sirius.
It probably will be Harry she decideds to kill off next; otherwise how could she continue the series? Unless she might make an eighth book ... I dunno. The whole thing is confusing me! Ohhh, I hope not. I've always liked Ron, Fred and George for some reason.
Oh yeah. I was super-pissed with both of them dying! Didn't I say that I thought she'd kill of Harry? Maybe I told someone else... oh well. She has offically stated that the 7th book will be the FINAL book. That is the only way she'll be able to finish it... and prevent people doing "spin-offs" of the books. Yeah, I love the Weasleys, but I think she needs to illiminate a lot of main characters or she'll still have "spin-offs." There was an article asking if she'd do a prequel series about James and Lilly Potter, but she said she didn't know. I think that'd be an awesome series though!

Ohhhh! That would be an awesome idea, that Lilly and James idea... I loved reading about them in the fifth (I *think* it was the fifth one anyway) book. Ah, the seventh is officially the final? Damn. I was poking around for loopholes!
Yeah. If she doesn't kill off more main characters she's still gonna have that "spinoff" thing there, you're right. It would be quite tempting to do that, mind you.
Yeah... I would LOVE to hear kind of the backstory to HP. Obviously we'd know how Lilly and James's story would end... but I think it'd be cool to learn more about their school-days/before Harry was born. Yeah... there can't be any loopholes because J.K made an official statement saying it's the end. Yeah, I would like to write an HP spin-off, but I suck at writing, so it wouldn't be any good.

Yeah, like you'd get to know what it was like before Voldemort had everybody so scared. I must admit that kinda gets on my nerves a little. I know he was scared of Dumbledore so I started thinking: "Wouldn't it be great if he kicked you right in the shins, Voldie?". Then I started laughing ... bad thing was I was sitting in a hospital waiting room waiting for my best friend so I got a lot of weird looks but I thought it was funny.
Oh bugger. I was really hoping she'd reconsider. I'd like to read your writing though. Lots of people make their own little spinoff serieses (I have no idea weather or not I spelt that right. ) and some of them really are quite interesting.
Yeah... you learn a little about Voldemort in book 2 with the whole Tom Riddle story... but I think I'd like to see even more details about his "fall from grace." I know we learn some about Voldemort's past in book 6, but I'd like to know more... we'll probably learn even more in book 7. That shin thing is funny! Innapropriate laughing stuff has happened to me all the time! Makes it kkind of awkward! I wish she'd do the spin-off series too (I'm not sure what the plural of series is). I may do a spin off thing... but I dunno... My bud ~AfrielSanguis is doing a Buffy the Vampire Slayer spin-off story. It should be cool to see!
